This piece in The Economist that does a pretty good job of breaking down the impact of COVID-19 on the healthcare economy and what to expect in the coming quarters. Haven Healthcare’s CEO Atul Gawande’s impending departure, after a troubled period involving lawsuits over senior leadership hires, is a reminder to startups and non-traditional players of the challenges involved in “disrupting” healthcare.
In my latest podcast episode, Seth Hain and Dr. Sam Butler of Epic discuss how emerging technologies like video visits will become an integral part of healthcare in the future. They believe that in future, a physician’s schedule would be 50% face-to-face and 50% non-face-to-face visits through video, telephone, and an asynchronous electronic visit back and forth. Take a listen.
Stay safe.
